Restrict the overharvesting of menhaden in Chesapeake Bay

A recent peer-reviewed study published in Frontiers of Marine Science (January 8, 2024), indicates a concerning decline in osprey productivity within the higher salinity zones of Chesapeake Bay, surpassing levels observed during the DDT era. The study underscores the necessity of implementing effective management strategies for fish stocks to safeguard higher trophic-level consumers. It is disconcerting that the Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC) appears to have neglected Virginia Code 28.2-203, which advocates for conservation and management measures based on the best scientific information.
