There is zero data that says how many menhaden are in the bay. The only modeled data available covers an industry certified menhaden fishery that covers the entire Atlantic seaboard, an area of 350,000 square miles. Cooke/Omega targets less than 1% of that area, less than 3,000 square miles, causing spatial depletion to an already overstressed estuary. That's the problem. Until VMRC can prove scientifically that there is not an issue in the bay, make the reduction industry fish in the ocean where there is plenty of stock. They already take 1/3 of their quota from the ocean, they already know how it's done.
