I would like to state that asking staff members who have been doing childcare for decades to rewatch a video each year on how to change a diaper is demeaning and useless. If you are going to make us do all these hours of continuing education, then make it something that is actually useful like focusing on updates to safe sleep practices, or working with children that have special needs using the latest techniques. The 10-hour Preservice class should also count towards annual training for new hires and promoting to Lead teacher should require fewer hours. We spend a lot of time doing repetitive training that makes it hard for our staff to feel valued when they are being treated like children.
