355 Generation180 Community Members Write to Gov. Youngkin to Share Their Support of RGGI

355 Generation180 community members from Virginia wrote to Gov. Youngkin to urge him to continue participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). Due to word limits, we share a few personalized letters as separate comments. A letter with 321 signatures is shared as its own comment as well.

These Virginians support RGGI!

Dear Governor Youngkin,

I hope that you, and the staffer actually reading this, are well!  I am disappointed that you have moved to repeal VA’s participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). Please reconsider.  I know such radical political tactics play well with some constituents, lobbyists and cabinet members who deny the existence of climate change, but I believe that you know better. You should rise above the fray. Weather catastrophes affect both red and blue localities.

Thank you!

Christopher Richter

Dear Governor Youngkin,

I am writing to you, as my elected representative, to urge you to protect Virginia’s clean energy future and continue our participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). This is not a choice! We MUST stay on course for a sustainable path - for our children, grandchildren and generations to come.   In the last three years, Virginia has become a clean energy leader with the passing of landmark programs like the Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA), Clean Car Standards, and the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). These programs lower electric bills, create jobs, attract business, and provide greater consumer choice - all while supporting our sustainable energy goals.  Please reverse your attempt to repeal RGGI, which is not only unlawful but would put Virginia’s economy, climate, and public health at risk.   PLEASE - leave a legacy you can be proud of. A legacy your family’s future generations can be proud of and say, “God bless him. He stood strong and was part of the solution.”    Thank you for your support in building a clean energy economy that benefits all Virginians.

Dear Governor Youngkin,

Withdrawal from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative would be reckless and short sighted.  I am writing to you, as my Governor, to urge you to protect Virginia’s clean energy future and continue our participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). Please reconsider your attempt to repeal RGGI, which is not only unlawful but would put Virginia’s economy, climate, and public health at risk.   Thank you for your support in building a clean energy economy that benefits all Virginians.

Dear Governor Youngkin,

I am writing to you, as my elected representative, to urge you to protect Virginia’s clean energy future and continue our participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). Please govern with an eye on the future instead of both eyes locked on the rear view. The economic drivers of 30 years ago will not be the economic drivers of the future.   Just in the last three years, Virginia has become a clean energy leader with the passing of landmark programs like the Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA), Clean Car Standards, and the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). These programs lower electric bills, create jobs, attract business, and provide greater consumer choice - all while supporting our sustainable energy goals. In many ways, Virginia stands to be a gain net benefits as we transition our energy sources and economy to mitigate and withstand climate change.   Please reverse your attempt to repeal RGGI, which is not only unlawful but would put Virginia’s economy, climate, and public health at risk.   Thank you for your support in building a clean energy economy that benefits all Virginians.

Dear Governor Youngkin

I have to ask, what do you want people to say about you 10 years or more from now? Do you want people to say that you went out of your way to destroy the environment even though you knew it could mean a disastrous future for your children and grandchildren and generations onward?  Right now with your terrible policies, either in place or being considered being put in place that is exactly what people will say.  I will be waiting to see if you do a better job at protecting our environment before I decide who to vote for. If you do not change your evil ways, you will not get my vote!  It is a simple as that.
