Reginal Greenhouse Gas Iniatiative

Membership in RGGI was authorized by state law, not executive order or administrative enrollment.  The Governor cannot nullify a law with which he/she disagrees.  My understanding is that since Virginia became a member, the commonwealth has received approximately $589 million - which has been split between projects to bolster flood protections & community resilience.  It has also benefited low-income households.

My understanding is also that your budget does not offset any of this critical funding or provide for energy-efficient programs.

Why would you go against the wishes & concerns of the majority of Virginians?  You are not a King - you are a governor elected by the voters.  We the voters are concerned about Virginia's environmental future.  It is incumbent upon you as Governor of Virginia to listen to the citizens of Virginia and maintain our membership in the RGGI.
