Why the RGGI should NOT be repealed

To whom it may concern,

I oppose the repeal. I have a difficult time understanding why in a time of climate crisis we would want to repeal any law that:

  1. has reduced the states’ carbon emissions
  2. has improved public health by decreasing air pollution which means fewer asthma attacks, premature births, and missed days of school and work
  3. is supported by 66% of Virginians
  4. The law mandates that Virginia participate in RGGI so repealing it would be unlawful

Climate change will have a large impact on people lives. Please keep that in mind when deciding whether to repeal this legislation which has proven to be effective as a measure to help the segments of our population who are most vulnerable to the impacts of a changing climate.
