It is not within the constitutional power of a Virginia Governor to unilaterally overturn a law that was passed by the General Assembly and signed into law by a previous Governor. If governors had that power, we would have an autocracy instead of a republic. Apparently it will take a court case to educate this Governor on his powers and duties. And we taxpayers will be stuck with the bill.

We have been over and over the value of RGGI to Virginia. It is funding flood preparedness and home weatherization while lowering our carbon emissions. There is no logical economic reason for withdrawing from RGGI. The stupidity is so blatant that it suggests underhanded motives. Is withdrawing a ploy to keep the energy-hungry data centers happy?

Remaining in RGGI serves the best interests of Virginia. So does following the constitutional separation of powers.
