Working together for a brighter future

To those at VDACS who are reading these comments,

It has been a difficult couple of years in the VDACS charity relationship. Mud has been slung, and trust has been lost. That is a tragedy. We are all here, both VDACS and 99% of VA charities, to do great things. We all signed up to support those in need, stand up for the weak, and speak up for those who may not be heard. Can we please get back to that? Can we yearn to help more? If we work together, we can accomplish so many more great things and assist many people who may not have another place to turn. We can all look back and see things we should have done differently, but I encourage all of us to put that in the past and look to a brighter future. In this vain, I, as a member of a charity, understand and appreciate the need for strong oversight and guidance from VDACS. The use of proceeds marks needs to be hit, and the public needs to be assured of a fair and secure game. We should all ask VDACS to do this and appreciate their efforts. The other side is true as well. Unnecessary stumbling blocks should not be placed in front of the charities. Why have a use of proceeds mark that we all know we can't hit? Why have an arbitrary rule of no concurrent tournament? And really, no tipping? These seem unnecessarily harsh.

Let's try to help each other grow. Let's try to help each other help more people. We are a small part of the Virginia business and government landscape, and we would all feel far less alone and sidelined if we work together for a brighter tomorrow.
