Regarding the proposed change to adoption rules by the State Board of Social Services

This issue isn't really about the rights of religious adoption agencies or the rights of gay people hoping to adopt children.  It's about the right of the child to be placed in the best possible situation.  Unless the child has a chance to reject the agency (and the restrictions the agency places on potential adoptive parents) selected to handle their adoption, the agency should not have the chance to reject possible parents based on factors which scientifically do not affect their ability to raise happy well-adjusted parents.

The best interests of the child should be the sole factor in deciding whether a child should be placed with a prospective foster care or adoptive parent or parents.

Sincerely, Forrest M. George
