As a Virginia resident and registered voter, I urge the Board of Social Services to approve the proposed non-discrimination requirements for adoption agencies. No studies have demonstrated that children raised by same-sex parents face any sort of disadvantage. The most important priority is to provide a loving home for children in need of adoption, and that can be provided by parents regardless of many irrelevant factors, such as gender, religious background, age, and sexual orientation, among others. In the interest of fairness to all potential adoptive parents, and in the interest of finding homes for children in need, it is imperative that Virginia approve this non-discrimination policy.
