Keep Virginia in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI)

I oppose the repeal of this law and urge the Air Board to protect Virginia's participation in RGGI, which will help us to achieve carbon-free energy by 2050.

It is important for Virginia to do what it can to reduce carbon emissions.  The reduction of emissions, which RGGI aims to achieve, has the effect of not only reducing adverse impacts to our environment, but it also reduces adverse impacts to the health of our citizens, which would pass on additional saving benefits because of reduced health care costs and loss of worktime due to respiratory illness.

Virginia's participate in RGGI can also generate funds that can benefit low-income families by providing them with more energy efficient housing, as well as funds that can be used in flood mitigation, something that is so vitally important to our Commonwealth with its beautiful shoreline and many waterways.
