Stay in RGGI

I am outraged that Gov. Youngkin would even consider disregarding the state's binding decision to join RGGI, which amounts to undermining an essential step toward a livable future.

I have neighbors who depend on funds that RGGI provides to protect their homes and businesses from the increasing and intensifying effects of climate change. But Youngkin's  actions will result in these funds not being distributed to the communities that desperately need them, including low-income households. Governor Youngkin's actions would, in other words, harm all of us but especially harm low-income communities in the state.

Climate heating is a real and present danger, as evident from the virtually relentless record heat, hurricanes, flooding, fires, and droughts devastating communities across the nation and world. Remaining in RGGI is necessary to make good on your constitutional obligation to protect the health and wellbeing of all Virginians.

With great concern,

Mark Wood
