Ultimately this comes down to what is best for children. To claim prevent someone from adopting solely based on the fact that they are gay is to claim that *the worst* heterosexual would be a better parent than *the best* gay person, and that's simply not true. If you need proof, look at the number of children in foster care, arguably all of whom come from heterosexual parents. To condemn those children to the instability of the foster care system (or worse -- parents who simply don't care about them) is cruel beyond words.
