Unnecessary Mandate

I firmly believe continuing education is paramount to professional development and progression, however, I have not seen proof of a measurable benefit to the public that can be directly correlated to a CE mandate.   It is certainly in ones professional interest to continuously develop new skills, refresh old ones, and stay on top of the latest innovations and trends, as the natural market consequences are so severe if one doesn’t.  I see no use for mandates if the intended benefit is uncertain and poses unnecessary financial and time constraints on the professional.
