CE Requirement - JUST A NEW BUSINESS

There are some very interesting comments from very bright minds. Here is my thought…. What is the purpose for CE? Does the board have a vision or just a fashion following other states? If you are really worried about the level of technical knowledge of the professional engineers then have them take a mandatory examination every 3 to 5 years that will test them on updates to various federal / state / city / county codes or regulations (just like the statutes test; you read the associated material; you answer the questions; and you mail them in). OTHERWISE CE IS A VERY GOOD AND SPRAWLING BUSINESS. It is for some engineer with a vision to sit in his living room and spit out a few buzzwords of the industry for an hour, offering nothing of technical value. I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE JUST WALK-IN TO LECTURES / WEBINARS – SLEEP THROUGH / EAT THROUGH AND WALK OUT WITH CE AND MORE CALORIES – NO TECHNICAL IMPROVEMENT.

THIS IS A DISASTER FOR LICENSED ENGINEERS WITHOUT SPECIFIC REGULATIONS / COURSES.

SO PLEASE TAKE A STEP BACK – TAKE A LONG AND RELAXING BATH – GIVE A SERIOUS THOUGHT TO WHAT YOU ARE ENVISIONING WITH CE? (DO NOT BLINDLY FOLLOW OTHER STATES).
