Require CE for code reviewers, officials; "Related experience"

I join with another comment on this topic: often code reviewers and building officials are ignorant of proper application of building codes.  Any CE requirements implemented on Architects and Engineers should be extended to code officials.

I am not opposed to CE requirements, but would like to see broad alternatives for those not engaged in traditional practice.  For example, please consider a provision for documenting "related experience" that may not be accredited by an individual organization such as the AIA.    The state law should NOT be proprietary to the AIA monopoly.
