I don't see the benefit to attending additional courses, seminars, on line courses, etc, just to meet a legislative requirement.  Many of us practice basic engineering principles in our day to day job.  If there is a need to understand a new technology we will more then likely pursue a way to learn about it.  Most practicing PEs that I work and deal with will make an effort to learn what they need to keep up with their job requirements.  If they don't they will be out of a job.
