Need for Continuing Education

I do believe there is a need for continuing education.  The problem comes in the definition and what qualifies as continuing education.  I am licensed any 8 other states and the majority of these states require continuing education.  The differences is in the number of EC required for each renewal and what is acceptable.  How I read your regulation, is that only a sponsored presentation with a defined objective would be acceptable.  I attend a number of IEEE conferences where there are various presentations given as part of a general assembly and other presentations that are part of standard working groups.  There are no stated objective and no sponsor that says that this is the number of hours.  When I attend these sessions, I don't always stay for all the presentations.  I stay for the ones that interest me.  I then keep track of these and how long each was to come up with the actual number of hours.  So, my suggestion is to keep what qualifies as open as possible.
