Proposed Continuing Education Requirement and Deployed Members of the U.S. Military

I do not have any objections with the proposed continuing education requirement but do want to bring up an issue that may affect some Professional Engineers in Virginia that are members of the Active Army or Army Reserve/National Guard or any military branch for that matter.  The past three times I renewed my PE license, I renewed it either in the Middle East or Southwest Asia as I was mobilized to active duty as an officer in the Army Reserve supporting either Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom.  If this requirement does pass, I STRONGLY recommend that there be a stipulation where members of the military that are currently serving overseas in support of a contingency operation be granted a waiver from the continuing education requirement when trying to renew their PE license.  We do not have the luxury of going to school or attend seminars when we are deployed overseas as we are busy fighting in the Global War On Terrorism.  I encourage all decision makers to take this into consideration when finalizing this requirement.
