Not in favor, More a burden than an aid, JUST SAY NO

OK be logical. Think back when we graduated from school with our respective degrees. This could be for any profession but specifically the Architecture or Engineering disciplines. How much could you really do in the real world once out in the workplace?  Be honest not much compared to a few years later of five days a week work. Then to qualify to sit for our exams Architects have to work for two or three years and complete IDP under a registered Architect and Engineers have the FE (EIT) exam several years experience under a registered Engineer and then the PE exam. Now thru the rest of our professional careers as practicing Architects and Engineers this process of learning continues (maybe not as intensely because we are building on knowledge and not starting from the bottom) because the day to day practice keeps us well educated. If we do not stay current we are no longer competitive to gain commissions outside the office and we are no longer valuable as employees in the office. The A/E profession is a very competitive business from all angles and if we are not self educated we are out of business or out of a job. So the A/E profession is self generating when it comes to our continued education and ability to perform our work and to protect the public’s life and safety. Required and regulated continuing education is not logical nor indeed needed portion of our professional lives. This is a most ridiculous requirement that is more of a burden than an aid in our professional careers.  JUST SAY NO !!!
