Against Continueing Education for Professional Engineers

I am aganist this proposal. As a Professional Engineer working in today's industry and in today's economy, every decision must be considered for it's additional added value. While some continuing education classes may add value to performance, a general directive for "X" hours of general training does not add value (except to the companies offering this training), and would probably not be funded by my company.

I know of no issue today that would require a change like this, which would probably mean that I am forced to drop my professional license, because I cannot pay for continuing education personnally. My wife is a self empoyed CPA, but because of the huge continuing education requirements, eventually let her CPA certification lapse because the classes could not be justified as value added.

Please do not vote in favor of this proposal. The current requirements of education, testing, and years of experience are enough to certify a Professional Engineer.
