Engineers have to constantly self-educate ourselves in order to keep up with changing codes and ordinances. I have found very little benefit in the many hours spent with continuing education seminars in the past. Mostly a waste of time and money. Rarely does a seminar address my specific needs and if it does its very expensive and often far away seminar. With internet research, calling on other professionals, obtaining current literature I learn what I need when I need it and we get no continuing education credit for how we really "continue" our education.
