Completely Opposed to Plan. Is of No Practical Benefit and Causes Harm to Practicing Engineers

This is a feel good measure that has no practical benefit and causes harm to the professionals that it applies to.  I am currently a registered engineer in 8 states, most of which require CE.  My experience is that to meet the requirements I either attend the minimum number of hours required attending courses that are quick and easy to complete and inexpensive or I order some "online course" that I complete in the evenings or weekends, so I can complete the "checkbox" on the renewal forms.  Very seldom do I see any value from these courses.  (It's typically material that I use every day in the performance of my job!)  My employer typically does not pay for the courses or the travel costs to attend them; I'm required to keep up my licenses as part of their expectations that I need to do what ever it takes for me to remain a licensed engineer and be of value to them.  In addition, as stated above, I very often have to attend these courses or take the on-line courses on my own time because the company does not want to give me time off to attend the courses because the "training budget" is depleted.  This is a typical "sounds good" proposal that a government bureaucrat or politician would think up so he can tell the public, "Look how I'm taking care of you and protecting you".  They have little regard for how their plan affects those who are directly impacted by their proposals.

Vote NO to this Plan.
