DPOR has not done their job

The proposed legislation/regulation states that licensed professionals must complete at least 16 hours of board-approved continuing education.  Yet there is no provision for determining if a particular course is board-approved prior to attending the class.  This is unacceptable.   DPOR needs to provide a list of pre-approved classes and providers, or allow the individual design professionals to make the determination for themselves, what is an acceptable CEU.

The costs associated with this proposal are significant.  I estimate the cost of an eight hour class to be $1000, plus lost billings of $1200, plus travel costs.  Our firm has 13 design professionals, this will cost us at least $28,600 a year.  It is one thing to impose this cost on us, tbut o make us gamble this money on the hope a class will be approved, is wrong.  If DPOR is unable to offer pre-approval, or self approval, of CEU's they need to table this proposal till such time as they are able to do their job.
