CEU - irrelevant at best, more bureaucracy for sure

I'll add my voice to all the previous commenters who are either against this idea in concept, or in the feared details of  implementation.  As an AIA member, I am already required to seek out, take and complete a variety of CEU activities -  VA should at least allow satisfaction of the relevant professional society's CEU requirements to automatically satisfy VA's requirements.  Also, if this is truly to serve any public safety purpose rather than just becoming another record-keeping burden, VA needs to establish credible relevancy of the CEU activity - no public purpose is served by attending a professional society's annual convention, yet CEU's are typically offered for just that.

In general, we are already subject to a high degree of legal scrutiny in our professional activities as licensed architects, engineers, and/or surveyors.  Acquiring additional current knowledge is something many of my colleagues do through individual research and learning, which will not be accredited under your regulations, yet is one of the most effective ways to acquire knowledge in such highly-technical fields.  The way these proposed regulations are written,. it's impossible for them to become anything but a record-keeping exercise - surely there are better uses for Virginais's tax  revenues!
