VMRC will be accepting public comment for proposed changes to Guidelines for Establishment, Use and Operation of Tidal Wetland Mitigation Banks in Virginia through June 20, 2024.

This document provides guidance regarding the process for the establishment and operation of tidal wetlands mitigation banks.  It is being updated to comply with the requirements of Chapter 334 of the 2023 Acts of Assembly.  The revision incorporates definitions from state and federal law, removes duplicative and outdated material, and simplifies the description of the process for approval of a bank. 

The planned effective date for this revised guidance document is: 7/1/2024.
