The petitioner requests that the board amend 18VAC85-20 to insert a requirement that a practitioner must disclose the serial number, manufactured date, and expiration date information of a medical implant device upon discharge from a hospital or surgery center when one has been inserted.

The petition for rulemaking will be published in the Virginia Register of Regulations on February 23, 2026. The petition will also be published on the Virginia Regulatory Town Hall to receive public comment, which will open on February 23, 2026 and will close on March 16, 2026. The Board will consider the petition and all comments in support or opposition at the next meeting after the close of public comment, currently scheduled for April 3, 2026. The petitioner will be notified of the Board’s decision after that meeting.
