Colonial Trail W Solar, LLC, has provided the Department of Environmental Quality a notice of intent to submit the necessary documentation for a permit by rule for a small renewable energy project (solar) in Surry County pursuant to Virginia Regulation 9VAC15-60.  The proposed project will be located to the northwest of the intersection of Colonial Trail (Rt. 10) and Hollybush Road (Rt. 618) in Surry County.  The project will have a maximum generating capacity of 100 megawatts alternating current (AC) across roughly 1250 acres on multiple parcels.  There is an existing transmission line bisecting the property and a new substantion is proposed to be built to connect to the grid.
