On October 14, 2014, Eastern Shore Solar LLC (Eastern Shore Solar) submitted a notice of intent (NOI) to the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) for a small solar energy project. In accordance with 9VAC15-60-30 A 1 of the Small Renewable Energy Projects (Solar) Permit by Rule Regulation, a NOI is to be submitted to DEQ and is to be published in the Virginia Register as notification that Eastern Shore Solar intends to submit the necessary documentation for a permit by rule for a small renewable solar energy project pursuant to 9VAC15-60.
Proposed Project: Eastern Shore Solar is proposing a small solar energy project consisting of four sub-projects. Each sub-project will have a maximum capacity of 20 Megawatts Alternating Current (AC), for a total combined maximum capacity of 80 Megawatts AC. The combined 80 MW of sub-projects will be sited across roughly 1,000 acres, and across multiple parcels.
The four sub-projects will utilize traditional photovoltaic solar modules, and rotate throughout the day to track the sun. The four sub-projects may ultimately be broken out, such that separate permits may be requested from DEQ pursuant to this notice.
Proposed Site Location: Northern Accomack County, west of Route 13 around the Oak Hall Electrical Substation in the general vicinity of Withams and Miona, VA.
