NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD - 2013 TMDL Nonpoint Source Implementation Projects

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) intends to award $1,475,000 of Federal Section 319(h) funding for 8 TMDL Implementation grant projects.  These 8 local government projects are in response to the 2012 TMDL Implementation Request for Pre-proposals issued December 17, 2012 by DCR and the 2013 TMDL Implementation Request for Full Proposals issued March 21, 2013 by DCR.

The purpose of these grant awards is to support TMDL Implementation projects that will result in advancement of goals and milestones provided in eligible local TMDL Implementation Plans (IP) that result in significant water quality improvements to local waters. Funding is available statewide for projects supporting implementation activities that address agricultural, residential septic, pet waste, suburban and urban, and mining NPS pollution. Eligible implementation and education activities included in this RFP reflect priorities established during IP development for impaired watersheds. Funding will not be provided for activities that are not included in the IP that covers the project area.

This list posts on September 3, 2013 to the DEQ website at: http://www.deq.virginia.gov/Programs/Water/CleanWaterFinancingAssistance/NonpointSourceFunding.aspx.  Questions or comments regarding this award notice should be submitted to npsgrants@deq.virginia.gov with the following subject line:  TMDL Implementation RFP comments.  The comment period ends on October 4, 2013.
