Legal Notice

Mathews County Wetlands Board hereby gives notice that on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 7 PM, in the Mathews County Historic Courthouse, 27 Court Street, Mathews VA; the Board will hold public hearings regarding requests for authorization of the following applications:

Katrina Smith, 314 Bay Shore Point Road, VMRC 26-0653, TM# 38-A-42 - Request to remove an existing riprap revetment and replace with a 22’x150’ revetment with Class II stone, using existing riprap as a core. Construct a 10’x150’x2’ berm composed of compacted fill dirt, with a portion under the revetment, along a section of the Mobjack Bay shoreline.   

James Martin, 649 Cobbs Creek Lane, VMRC 26-0745, 4-A-139A - Request to construct two offshore breakwaters, approximately 100’ & 36’ in length, using Class I & II Armor stone, and a 124’ marsh toe sill with backfill and Spartina Alterniflora plantings, maintenance of existing revetment with Class I stone, along a section  of the Piankatank River.

Donald Korb, 81 Island Drive, VMRC 26-0807, TM# 11A413 -4A - After The Fact Application to request, a 5’x43’ timber bulkhead in the same footprint with a 10’ return, and 5’x8’timber steps to the water, and demo existing 4’x60’ timber groin in the same footprint, along a portion of Chesapeake Bay shoreline.

Interested parties are invited to attend the meeting.  Applications may be reviewed at the Mathews County Wetlands Board office, located in the County Administration Building, 50 Brickbat Road, Mathews VA, Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-4:30 pm or online at https://webapps.mrc.virginia.gov/public/habitat/index.php.
