Public Notice

The Northampton County Wetlands Board will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. or shortly thereafter in the Board Chambers located at 16404 Courthouse Road in Eastville, VA, for the purpose of considering the following wetlands/coastal primary sand dunes matters and to conduct regular business. Site visits to the properties will be conducted on the same date, starting at 8:00 a.m.

VMRC 2023-0164: Parting Creek LLC and Kenneth S. Terry are applying for a permit to construct a new vinyl bulkhead, attach it to an existing bulkhead, and include a return wall. The property is located on Willis Wharf Road, Exmore, VA, and is further described as Tax Map 11A­A-101, along the shoreline of Parting Creek.

VMRC 2023-1367: Harry L. Bowen Jr. is applying for a permit for closing of an operational manmade railway by bulkheading the railway slip area then filling with fill from an upland source. The bulkhead will have a 41 ft. wide commercial loading pier that will connect to an existing pier. The property is located at 4495 Willis Wharf Road, Willis Wharf, VA, and is further described as Tax Map 11A-A-103, along the shoreline of Parting Creek.

VMRC 2024-0154: John W. & Lynette Patterson are applying for a permit to replace an existing timber bulkhead with a vinyl bulkhead. The property encroaches on vegetated wetlands. The property is located at 6436 Riverside Lane, Franktown, VA, and is further described as Tax Map 14A-2-4C, along the shoreline of Nassawadox Creek.

VMRC 2024-0241: Robin & Kari Pollock are applying for a permit to install a breakwater by moving the existing revetment stone offshore. The property is located on Sandhill Drive, Cape Charles, VA, and is further described as Tax Map 104D-1-18, along the shoreline of the Chesapeake Bay.

VMRC 2024-0335: David Gerk & Katherine Sharpee are applying for a permit to install a breakwater by moving the existing stone revetment offshore. The property is located on Sandhill Drive, Cape Charles, VA, and is further described as Tax Map 104D-1-19, along the shoreline of the Chesapeake Bay.

Anyone interested in the above matters should attend the scheduled public hearing. The applications may be viewed in the Planning, Permitting, and Enforcement Office located at 16404 Courthouse Road in Eastville, VA.
