LANCASTER COUNTY WETLANDS BOARD

January 11, 2024

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING – Pursuant to Section 28.2-1302 of the Code of Virginia, notice is hereby given to all interested parties that the Lancaster County Wetlands Board will hold a public hearing for the following Wetlands Board actions:

1. Lancaster County Board of Supervisors, c/o Wayne Savage, PO Box 51, Urbanna, VA 23175; requests permission to install a 404 linear foot fishing pier with a 65 linear foot ramp-up at 5.00% slope and a 66 linear foot L-head on the shoreline of the Rappahannock River. Located at the end of VSH 695 (Windmill Point Rd.). Tax Map #s 40-39, 41-4O. VMRC #23-2143.
   2. Laurence Sawyer and Ashton Harrison, c/o Chris Davis, 504 Smoketree Ct., North Chesterfield, VA 23236; requests permission to install 129.5 linear feet of “Ready Reef” sill, 851 square feet of clean sand backfill, 851 square feet of wetlands plantings, and 40 linear feet of “Envirolock” bags along eroded shoreline of Carters Creek. Located off VSH 637 (James Wharf Road). Tax Map #33-498E, 33-498C. VMRC #23-2647.
   3. Eagle Landing HOA, c/o Joseph Scott, PO Box 315 Kilmarnock, VA 22482; requests permission to replace an 88 linear foot tending pier in the same footprint on the shoreline of Browns Creek. Located off VSH 1075 (Eagles Trace). Tax Map #22D-1-31. VMRC #23-2602.

The public hearing will convene at 9:30 a.m. on January 11, 2023 in the Board of Supervisors Meeting Room. Interested members of the public will be able to participate in the meeting from their computer, tablet, smartphone, regular phone or in person. The weblink, phone number and access code will be published on the County website, www.lancova.com at least three days prior to the meeting as required.
Wetlands Board members will inspect sites on January 9, 2024 sometime between 9:00 a.m. and noon. Information on the above actions is on file in the Building/Land Use Office at the County Administration Office. All interested parties will be afforded the opportunity to be heard and are requested to submit a concise written statement prior to the meeting to the Planning and Land Use Office at 8311 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster, VA 22503, faxed to (804) 462-0031 or email ohall@lancova.com.
