Rocky Forge Wind, LLC (Rocky Forge) has provided the Department of Environmental Quality a notice of intent to submit the necessary documentation for a Permit By Rule (PBR) Modification for a small renewable energy project (wind) in Botetourt County pursuant to Virginia Regulation 9VAC15-40. Rocky Forge would be located on a remote tract of private property in northern Botetourt County. The modification proposes to reduce the number of turbines from a maximum of 25 to between 13 and 22 modern wind turbines, with a total height not to exceed 680 feet. The number of  turbines and exact height depends upon the turbine model selected, with a total project capacity not to exceed 80 MW. Additionally, project design involves minor access realignment which would allow for a reduction in the overall disturbed area of the project.
