DMME is pleased to announce that the first Reenergize Southwest Virginia listening session will be held on June 8 at 6:00 pm at Mountain Empire Community College in Big Stone Gap.  The in-person meeting will also be livestreamed here: https://covaconf.webex.com/covaconf/onstage/g.php?MTID=e81d7b6a6ad8bd25df7d3b0e3d0f54283 .
 
Reenergize Southwest is an initiative created by DMME to implement the requirements of HB1899/SB1252.  The legislation directs DMME, in coordination with stakeholders, to create recommendations as to how the Commonwealth can provide economic transition support to the coalfield region.  A draft report is due September 1, 2021 and the final report is due December 1.
