Purpose of the meeting The Board of Education will convene on Wednesday, October 20 and Thursday, October 21 for their monthly meetings. All meetings will be held in the James Monroe Building 22nd Floor Board Room, 101 N. 14th Street, Richmond, VA 23219. Based on CDC guidance, all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, are strongly encouraged to weak a mask. Meetings will be livestreamed on the VDOE YouTube channel. Please note the Security Protocols for the James Monroe Building: All visitors to the James Monroe Building must show Photo ID and sign in at the security desk on the first floor. When you arrive, please pass through the security screening, sign-in at the security desk and let them know you are attending the Board of Education meeting. All visitors must have an escort to and from the security desk to the meeting location. Please allow time for these security protocols. Security desk hours are from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. We appreciate your patience and commitment to ensuring the safety of all employees and guests. The Board of Education will hold its monthly business meeting, beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, October 21. The agenda and meeting materials are available on the Board’s webpage. Public comment** will be accepted at the beginning of the meeting. Written public comment is always accepted on the Board’s email account at BOE@doe.virginia.gov. Please contact Sonya Broady at sonya.broady@doe.virginia.gov or 804-225-2540 if you wish to make public comment,** and indicate at what meeting you wish to address the Board. Please limit remarks to three minutes. Electronic or written copies of remarks are encouraged – individuals should prepare 11 copies. Electronic copies can be submitted to Sonya Broady via email. For all meetings, persons are encouraged to print items of interest as hard copies will not be available at the meeting site. Wi-Fi is available in the meeting room.
