| Purpose of the meeting A public hearing on a draft permit amendment for the Southeastern Public Service Authority Regional Landfill that would allow an expansion of the disposal footprint which will add another 56 acres of lined disposal area designated Cell VII, bringing the total lined disposal footprint at the landfill to approximately 244 acres. The proposed permit allows the company to dispose of up to 7,500 tons of waste per day. The applicant has also asked for an exception to the requirements of the Virginia Solid Waste Management Regulations to allow for an alternate liner for Cell VII and for the use of Alternate Concentration Limits (ACL's) as groundwater protection standards. The DEQ director has decided tentatively to approve the request. DEQ accepts comments by e-mail, fax or postal mail. All comments must include the name, address and telephone number of the person commenting and be received by DEQ within the comment period. DEQ also accepts written and oral comments at public hearings. The public may review the draft permit and application at the DEQ office named below. The public comment period begins on March 1, 2011 and ends on April 15, 2011. | |
