HB 805, enacted by the 2000 General Assembly, permits school divisions to donate replaced obsolete hardware and software to public school students, as provided for by guidelines developed by the Board of Education. The guidelines address criteria for determining student eligibility and need; a required reporting system for the compilation of information concerning the number and socioeconomic characteristics of recipient students; and notification of parents of the availability of such donations. Local school boards should follow these guidelines when donating replaced computer hardware and software to students. |
