| Summary |
The purpose of this manual is to outline the policies and procedures for the Forensic Evaluation
Oversight System established by House Bill 582 of the 2015 General Assembly
Session effective July 1, 2016. This modified the statutes for adult evaluations of
Competency to Stand Trial (CST) and Sanity at the Time of the Offense, and also authorized the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) to maintain a list of approved forensic evaluators who may complete these evaluations for the Virginia courts.
This change in law only applied to adult evaluations and to evaluations of CST and Sanity. |
