Title Guidelines For Working With Students Who Are Deaf Or Hard Of Hearing In Virginia Public Schools
Document ID Special Education
Summary The purpose of these guidelines is to provide resources and suggestions to enhance the provision of services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in order to support their educational goals. They are written for special and general education administrators, teachers of students who are deaf or hard of hearing (referred to by Virginia teacher licensure regulations as HI teachers), general educators, parents, speech and language pathologists, interpreters, and any individual interested in serving the academic or functional needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. These guidelines replace the Program Guidelines for Students with Hearing Impairment in Virginia Public Schools, published in 1990, and will be updated as needed on the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) Web site at www.doe.virginia.gov.
