Appraisal License Reinstatement period

It has come to my attention that the period allowed to reinstate an expired real estate appraisal license is much shorter than that period allowed for other professional licenses.  I understand that the Realtor license allows a one year period after expiration to be reinstated.  The period for appraisers should be the same as that for Realtors to allow for extended family emergencies or illnesses.

Appraisal License Reinstatement Period

This change is long overdue.  We need to bring our statutes up to current regulatory standards. Should the regulation change pass, I believe, it is imperative that it be made retroactive for anyone whose license expired due to extenuating circumstances and Appealed to the Board requesting exception based on those circumstances.  This new regulation (extending the renewal period from 3 months to 1 year) would have prevented this situation and I believe it is only fair that those who were penalized due to the short renewal timeline have their cases re-opened and reviewed by the Board.

Appraisal License Reinstatement Period

This new regulation is important to our profession to keep appraisers in line with other professional organizations and allow time for the licensee when a FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) occurs.  This regulation should be retroactive for cases presented to the board on this violation.
