This feelings based curriculum may benefit some kids but why make it a standard for all? I refuse to allow my children to be inundated with such nonsense while they're supposed to be learning academics. I have carefully read each of these standards and they are entirely too politically driven and out of line for K-12. For those experts that so heavily believe emotions have to be dealt with to enhance academics, this is NOT true for all students. What about the families that are stable, whose kids have supportive communities, whose reality (that they're unapologetic about) is that they don't need or want intrusive adults in the school probing them about their emotions. What about these kids? They want to go to school to learn, and want to come home to their happy family and healthy relationships to talk about personal things. THERE NEEDS TO BE AN OPT OUT! Not all students are victimized and looking for the school to be their emotional support. As a parent, I can assure you lawsuits will be coming if I get wind of half these standards being pushed on my kids in the future. Get ready, VDOE. You asked for it!
