Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Strongly opposing the public school system failing society

I am sickened by this proposal to allow children to keep secrets with the school system from their parents.  The school system does NOT have the authority to "parent" my children.  A school system is simply in place to help my children learn basics in life to allow them to provide living in the future.  Stop trying to gain more control over our children when you dont have the right to do so.

On another note, if you think for one second I will allow my children to be exposed to the opposite gender in a locker room or bathroom then you are sadly mistaken.  I WILL 100% sell everything I have to put my child in a CHRISTIAN PRIVATE school rather than to keep them in a public school that is failing society. Transgender individuals need help for an issue they have with themselves.  The entire world does not and should not be asked to conform to something that is immoral.  Those who need help should get help.  I'm blown away at the idiocy of even thinking this is logical.  Dont you understand that making a few feel "comfortable" will make millions uncomfortable?  Do you want to see the rate of teen pregnancy increase?  Do you want to see the rate of mental illness increase? By passing this you will increase the rate of both.  You WILL lose MANY children to the public school system and you WILL have many who lose their jobs.  This is a snowball to the end of public schools.  I promise I will be the first to withdraw my children and watch it fall.  Good luck.
