It is obvious that some bureaucrats have too much time on their hands.  Continuing education credits provide no long term educative benefit.  Professionals that are actively pursuing their careers have on the job continuing education every minute of every day.  If the intent of this requirement is to try and ensure competency within the professions, then you may as well stop the entire licensing process right now.  Competency is based upon many items.  The least of which is taking a continuing education course that requires no mastering of any skills and .in fact, only means that you showed up for a qualified seminar.  Most of these seminars are trash and provide no useful education whatsoever.

This requirement should be abandoned immediately.  The bottom line is to ask yourself the question: "How did we ever survive this long in the licensing process without this requirement?"  the answer is that being a licensed professional is in and of itself a substantial feat that requires a modicum of intelligence and effort.  One does not lose those qualities by not attending 16 hours of inane seminars.

My vote is to drop this amendment like a hot potato.
