Evidence Based Abortion Care NOT Restricted TRAP Care

Please please use common sense when considering these laws and when in doubt if scientific evidence does not support the abortion regulation do NOT pass it just to appease an opinionated minority.

TRAP (targeted regulation of abortion providers) laws prevent women, especially those of vulnerable populations from accessing care. They are written by individuals who seek to end access to abortion rather than make it a medically safe procedure. For example, the 24 hour waiting period (which requires women to wait a minimum of 24 hours after their ultrasound till they obtain their abortion) is not evidence based. In fact this obstacle can delay abortion beyond the first trimester making it a riskier procedure and illegal to have the state of Virginia.

Rather than waste time regulating abortions anti-choice groups should focus on preventing pregnancy through increased access to contraception. If contraceptive use increases the need for abortions would decrease.
