The emergency gun ban in state offices makes no sense whatsoever, and it only makes a tragedy of epic proportions more likely, not less. Persons with concealed gun permits are among the most law-abiding citizens in the state and are also the most likely to be able to respond immediately to a gun situation in a governnment bulilding if such a situation occurred. They would be rendered impotent by this ban. Recent mass shootings have mostly occurred in "gun-free" zones, and it is readily apparent that the police or security personnel are not adequate to stop such incidents by themselves. This ban is useless and serves only a narrow political purpose and can only make state offices more dangerous, not less. I urge its appeal and encourage the Governor to engage second Amendment supporting individuals and organizations to discuss credible, useful laws that might make the Commonwealth safer. This ban is clearly not in that category.
