How on earth does is make sense for people who have gone through an appropraite background check to be banned from carrying a weapon where no other immediate protection (i.e., metal detectors, armed security, etc) is provided?  Those peopel who have gone to the trouble of getting permits to legally carry firearms are NOT the issue, and never have been.  This policy, which lacks the support of the state legislatrue and representation of the people of Virginia, is wrong headed and places people in greater danger from those criminals who are not going to bother with laws.
