Against this executive order

The "emergency" gun ban instituted by Gov. McAulilffe's executive order does nothing more than prevent law-abiding citizens from being armed in state offices.  The stated purpose of this ban is to make state offices safer for those who work there by preventing crazy people from coming into these offices and massacring anyone who happens to be in there at the time.  This is exactly what will happen if every one in the office is a law-abiding citizen.

Unfortunately, this executive order will do absolutely nothing to prevent criminals or those who are mentally deranged from walking in with their guns and shooting the place up.  Criminals or the mentally deranged do not care about any executive orders, and certainly will not abide by them.  The only effect of this order is to disarm those from whom we have nothing to fear.

With this order in effect, there will be no one on site who could possibly end a shooting spree by shooting the killer.  The killer will be able to pick and choose his victims at his leisure without fear of someone shooting back at him.  Any response from Law Enforcement would probably take at least five or ten minutes to get on scene.  A deranged killer could kill a lot of people in five minutes.

Using the logic of this executive order, maybe we sould outlaw automobiles since approximately 50,000 people are killed in auto accidents across the country annually.  Perhaps we should outlaw airplanes while we're at it since they crash periodically and kill a lot of people at the same time.

This is nothing more than a ploy by Liberals to get around the Second Amendment which guarantees us the right to bear arms.

I strongly urge the Governer to rescind this executive order.  It will do nothing to protect our citizens or government workers, and may well harm them.
