As a resident of Virginia I reject the notion of this executive order issued by the Governor for a number of very good reasons. The Constitution is the basis for law in the United States and is the document which all of the laws enacted in the country are based upon. The second amendment quite clearly states the right to bear arms shall not be infringed. S what exactly do you call an executive order infringing on Virginians' right to bear arms? Unconstitutional! Self defense is an inherent right to life, why the Governor would want to prohibit ones right to life is a very good question? This executive order could easily carry over into a number of area's that do not come to mind initially including parking lots, rest area's etc. where law abiding citizens essentially became prime targets for criminals who do not follow laws by the nature of being a criminal alone.
Time and time again we have seen gun-free zones to be killing fields for the criminal element, yet the Governor wants to enact an executive order playing into the hands of murderers and terrorist? Ask yourself how much sense does that make? This is an executive order addressing a solution for which there never was a problem to begin with. We're talking about partisan politics here and a dangerous precedent where one can simply write an executive order for essentially any reason at all. There is a system of checks and balances in this country to prevent this very sort of thing for a reason. Because a gross over stepping of boundaries can lead to a slippery slope where any and everything goes for essentially any reason at all. As a resident of Virginia, I do not support this or any other executive order drawn up for partisan reasons instead of legitmate need.
