Sitting Ducks

This proposed regulation plays directly into the hands of those who wish to do harm to Virginia citizens. It creates a perfect safety zone for any would-be terrorist, violent criminal, or mentally ill attacker to carry out their plan. Virginia has had no shootings in state agencies. This regulation is entirely without justification and needlessly endangers innocent lives. It is counter-intuitive to the idea of public safety. Disarming good citizens does not make anyone safer.

The governor has no authority for this regulation. If the General Assembly of Virginia wanted our governor to have such authority, they would grant it to him explicitly as is required by our state Constitution.

This regulation will serve only to put our citizens in greater danger by leaving them as sitting ducks should a situation arise in one of our agencies. This regulation should NOT be approved and the "emergency" regulation withdrawn. Please extend the comment period for another 30 days.
